    Adult Basic Education & High School Equivalency Preparation We offer a variety of free adult education services for individuals 17 and older. Classes are individualized. Students work at their own pace on the skills they need. In classes you will: Improve Basic reading, writing, and math skills Develop Workforce skills Prepare for the Missouri High School Equivalency Tests (HSE/GED) Prepare for Postsecondary Education Prepare for the WorkKeys and Job Placement tests By attending classes you can: Invest in your future Improve your skills Earn your HS diploma/credential Qualify for a better job Prepare for college or a technical school Summer classes will begin on July 6, 2021 and continue through August 18th. Both online and in-person classes are available. For a list of in-person classes, search "Adult In-Person Programs." Students must attend a virtual testing and/or orientation session prior to July 6th. Once our office receives your application, a staff member will contact you regarding testing and/or orientation.   • Chair Yoga - Online

    THIS IS AN ONLINE CLASS - Your instructor will email instructions 3-4 hours prior to class Feel the benefits of yoga without having to get on the floor. You'll stretch the body, release tension, practice breathing, quiet the mind without having being on a yoga mat. Anyone can benefit from chair yoga especially if you have limited mobility or want to practice yoga at work. It is for all ages and can be practiced anytime!     English as a Second Language We offer classes for adults whose first language is not English. Students in beginning classes learn to speak, listen for understanding, read, and write English. Intermediate and advanced students have the opportunity to improve conversation, grammar, pronunciation, reading, and writing. Other classes include: U.S. Government and History Citizenship TOEFL Summer classes will begin on July 6, 2021 and continue through August 18th. Both online and in-person classes are available.     THIS IS AN ONLINE CLASS - Your instructor will email instructions 3-4 hours prior to class Restorative yoga is a practice that leads the yogi toward a more healing and recuperative experience, introduces a wonderful benefit to the body, mind, and heart, an opportunity for a deeper level of relaxation. This practice makes it unique for some reasons: slow down the pace of life, soothing the nerves system, encourage mindfulness, deepens self-awareness and introspection, strengthens acceptance and detachment, helps you feel safe and nurtured, restorative yoga facilitates the integration of all layers of life, physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual. You experience self-awareness, learn how to move your body in different ways of discovering sensations, and linking the breath into a creative flow. There are no plank or chaturanga poses during this practice. It is a very intentional practice standing up and on the floor with a beginning and an ending meditation.
