  • Smoky Mountains Adventure

    The Smoky Mountains Adventure trips are open to current Rockwood fifth grade students. Travel to the Great Smoky Mountains for an adventure-packed four days exploring the wilderness, searching for wildlife, learning about the environment and developing leadership skills. Stay at the Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont, an environmental education center located within the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Installment option: A $225 deposit is due upon acceptance on the trip. If you choose the installment option, your account will automatically be set up to make three installment payments of $150 each due on December 1, January 2 and February 1.     Flash fiction--what is it and where can you publish it? In this one-time class, we'll explore different styles of very short stories, learn to write them, and discuss how to submit stories for publication.   • Support for Kids: Embracing My Differences

    We are all different, but sometimes it's hard to understand why, especially if you have a disability or diagnosis that makes you think, feel, or act "different" than the other kids who are the same age. In this 3-part series, your child will talk about what it's like living with a disability, how they compare themselves to their peers, and engage in activities that promote self esteem, self-advocacy, coping skills, and more. Build relationships with peers, make a new friend, and discover why it's OK to be different! For Parents: We will be holding a speaker series for parents at the same time as this program where we will cover the "tough topics" of having a child with a disability or diagnosis, tips and tricks to explain their diagnosis to them, and how to assist them in promoting their self esteem and self-advocacy skills. Each of our adult programs includes an option to ‘pay a little more'. All funds raised help to provide enriching and engaging experiences for youth, families, and adults in need of financial assistance. Gold Card members (Parkway and Rockwood district residents ages 60 and older) receive a 50% discount for this class. The discounted rate will automatically be applied at checkout. You must have a Gold Card issued in your name to receive the discounted rate. If you do not have a Gold Card and would like to request one, complete an online request form.     Have a colicky baby or one struggling to sleep through the night? Are you struggling to find effective ways to ease your child’s discomfort caused by growth or illness? Consider Infant Massage! Infant massage promotes relaxation and creates an excellent bonding experience between a child and their parent. By learning infant massage techniques from Certified Infant Massage Instructors (CIMI), parents can help relieve teething pains, congestion, or colic in their infants while also promoting healthy weight gain and more sound sleep patterns. Infant Massage Classes are designed for infants ranging in age from newborn to 8 months.
