  • SwimAmerica Group Lessons: Session 5 (February 6 - March 16); Crestview Middle School

    Important Update: Like many businesses, we are currently experiencing a staffing shortage with our SwimAmerica program. As a result, we have had to limit the number of spaces available in SwimAmerica classes. We will continue to hire new instructors as they become available. If you are interested in SwimAmerica classes, sign up for the wait list for your preferred session(s) and we will contact you if/when additional staff are hired and we are able to open more spaces. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Know anyone interested in working part-time in our SwimAmerica program? We're hiring swim instructors ($12/hr) and site supervisors ($14/hr). Have them complete this interest form today. SwimAmerica is a learn-to-swim program for ages 4 and up with classes taught in ten stations. New swimmers will be placed in a station that suits their ability and will progress from station to station at their own pace as the skills at each station can be achieved on a consistent basis. Our teaching progression emphasizes correct body position, stroke and kick, breathing and timing of the strokes. SwimAmerica strives to teach basic water safety, improve fitness, and have fun while learning proper swim techniques.
  • Preschool: Session 5 (February 6 - March 16); Crestview Middle School

    The Preschool program is designed to teach 3-5 year olds to be comfortable in a school-age program setting. We will introduce proper breathing, front/back float and kicking techniques. When these skills can be done on a consistent basis, the child will continue on to freestyle and backstroke. After they have reached the age of four, and are comfortable with the school-age environment, they may be moved to the SwimAmerica program.

    Swim lessons for the adult beginner; small class size and individual attention make this class perfect for those adults just learning how to swim. Adults will work on floating, kicking, gliding, treading, breathing, and improving your swimming skills in the water. Our goal is to make everyone safe and not afraid of the water.

    The Parent and Child swim classes are designed to have parents in the pool with their child age six months through two years old. Through the use of songs and games we will offer the opportunity for the parent and child to work together and learn skills that will be necessary in other Swim America classes.
  • Adaptive Swim Lessons (Please See Class Description for Reserved Population)

    Adaptive Swim Lessons are private swim lessons that are geared towards the needs of the participants who may have (but not limited to) a social, emotional, cognitive, or physical impairment, and who may not benefit from the “traditional” swim lesson setting. Participants are paired 1:1 with an instructor, and are able to work on any goal that pertains to the child’s needs (i.e. sensory experience, basic swimming skills, gross motor or fine motor skills, etc.)
  • Metabolic Syndrome & Senior Health Workshop

    Metabolic Syndrome- what is it, do you have it and how to avoid it. Sarcopenia defined and how to down-regulate it. Discussion on the benefits of exercise at any age, genetic vs lifestyle. Class ends with individual action plans to minimize the Metabolic Syndrome in your own life. In this 3-part series of hour-long sessions for parents, you will become familiar with the world of Orton-Gillingham and Structured Literacy, take a tour of a lesson, and learn what you can do at home to work with your child. Part 1: What is Structured Literacy Instruction? (And Why It's Important for Your Struggling Reader) Orton-Gillingham, also known as Structured Literacy, is the most effective reading instruction in helping struggling readers and spellers build and strengthen their skills. Learn about the Science of Reading, what Orton-Gillingham and Structured Literacy instruction are all about, and what you should be looking for in a qualified tutor for your child. Part 2: Experience a Structured Literacy Lesson As a parent, you may wonder what happens when you send your child in for an Orton-Gillingham tutoring session. Take a tour of a typical session to experience a multisensory structured language lesson.
