  • Rockwood Thunder Volleyball Girls U15-U18 Competitive Teams Tryouts

    A competitive program where teams are formed and divided by age and skill level. Teams compete in multiple tournaments during the season both in and out of state. Tryouts are open to all athletes who meet the Gateway age requirements. Tryout times will be determined in early July and posted at the Rockwood Thunder website. U15 6pm Lafayette High School U16 6pm Eureka HS School u17 and U18 5pm Wildwood Middle School Tryout fee is a non-refundable $30 fee per player.

  • Kid's Night Out: STEM Sports

    Designed to pair strategic STEM‐based activities with basic game‐play and current hot topics across multiple sports, the STEM Sports® curriculum gives students the opportunity to get behind the sports they love with modules centered around technology, science and innovation. Subjects vary by sport, but include ball design, calculating distances and angles, velocity, acceleration and much more! This program is taught in collaboration with Skyhawks Sports Academy.     Take off your watch, put away your phone, and join us for a rejuvenating morning in the woods grounded in Shinrin-yoku.     Birdwatch with Me!

    Kids, grab your parent, aunt, grandpa or friend and join us for an introduction to birdwatching! Learn the basics of how to use binoculars, habitats and migration patterns and how to spot those birds! Then take a hike on the Hawthorn trail and practice spotting some birds! We will lead a short lesson at the Babler Outdoor Education Center before driving to the Hawthorn trail located nearby in Babler State Park. Course is taught by Community Ed Instructors.     Indulge in nature and experience a day outdoors with your little one as you engage in activities that will help you build your "outdoor toolbox", including: a short hike/storybook walk, and more on the beautiful grounds of Babler State Park.   • Kid's Night Out: Science of Toys and Walloping Weather

    What makes toys work? Kids learn about motorized toys and take a spin with kinetic tops. They balance a bird to reveal its center of gravity. Kids get weather wise and uncover the reason for seasons. They create three-day weather forecasts, stage a statically-charged indoor storm, and spot the sun’s invisible UV rays.
